Ocean Sky Finds Inspiration on its Pilgrimage to Chung Tai
From August 14th to 21st, 2024, Ocean Sky Chan Monastery embarked on their annual pilgrimage to Chung Tai. Hoisting lugged filled with delicious Filipino delicacies to offer to the sangha, they came with sincere hearts and found deep inspiration on the bodhi path.
The architecture of Chung Tai Chan Monastery harmoniously integrates elements of art, culture and technology with the Dharma, and serves as a demonstration of the “Five Directions of Spreading Buddhism.” It was awarded the “Taiwan Architecture Award” in 2002, and the “International Award for Lighting Design” in 2003, writing a new page in 21st century Buddhist architecture.
In this story, the Buddha explains his sole purpose for appearing in the world—to guide sentient beings away from the suffering of samsara, to transform the doubts and confusion in their minds. Thus, taking refuge in the Buddha is like finding a doctor to remove the poisonous arrow of afflictions lodged in our hearts.
Compassion is one of Buddhism’s fundamental tenets. Eating a vegetarian diet with the intention to save sentient beings helps us live gentler and purer lives. Here, we regularly share healthy vegetarian recipes so you can not only experience the joy of vegetarian eating, but also cultivate a more compassionate mind.
